1st Gran Fondo – Peninsula Pedallers

IMG_0049Our new riding event was held last Sunday in the popular holiday and fishing destination Tumby Bay, Eyre Peninsula. The event had two options the mini Gran Fondo – 30km and half Gran Fondo 60km.

Our group started riding from the front street heading to Ungarra. The event went well and it was represented by 10 PP members plus 2 Support Crew. The ride itself was dominated by the NW head wind until reach our destination with a table full of refreshments! On the way back a tail wind helped to keep the group together and a final lead out held by Greg gave the riders a good taste of the Tour de France. Overall, it was a good day and everyone enjoyed the day out!

Ungarra is a small agricultural based town located on the Eyre Peninsula, 30km from Tumby Bay and 80km from Port Lincoln. The name ‘Ungarra’ is derived from a nearby waterhole of the same name which is located just to the south of the township. It has a Mediterranean climate and receives on average just over 400mm of rainfall every year.

Coomunga / North Shields / home

Twelve of us headed out along the pines trail. Great fun in the wet. Had a nice cupper and bun at Clayton’s (thanks) and then along the dirt roads down to North Shields (fun doing speed down the hill!). Back via the Investigator trail.

About a three hour ride. Excellent

Tumby Bay to Redcliff on mountain bikes

On 15th of May 21 of us gathered at Tumby and headed south along the coast on our mountain bikes. We had a stop at Second Creek and then on to Redcliff where we had a break. Back home via another road making it about 30km round trip and 90 min of riding time. See route on “Where to ride”

Coffee and food at “Alive and Well”, Tumby Bay, afterwards. It was a great day with sun shining and no wind. Fantastic.

Christmas ride Ho Ho Ho

Sunday 13th Dec 20-15

We met at ArtEyrea and had a nice ride out to Billy Lights Point and around town. Dave tried to avoid the hills with some success. Ended up at Puckridge Park where we had lunch. The food was way too good.
